Nightmare Ends: JHGCA Cagers Outlast TFUCS, Secure Semis Berth

As Superman has Kryptonite and Achilles has his heels, JHGCA got TFUCS.

JHGCA, though having many wins, being frightened by other teams, got their knees feeble whenever they will face TFUCS.

Well, no doubt that this team is for real. They got the bodies, the tools and the support they needed. They are, if not one hundred percent, at least almost complete. History tells it. Since the school year Jesus the Heart of God Christian Academy became competitive, its competitiveness spirit always declines as they battle against The First Uniting Christian School, either be volleyball or a basketball match.

November 25, 2015 at GMA Complex, during the Federation of Christian Schools Athletic League 2015, once again, these two teams collided in a must-win ballgame.

The smaller, thinner and weary JHGCA Basketball High School players battled against TFUCS in a game which will give the winner a sure semi-final slot.

The game started at 4:00 p.m. after a rubber match of VCM and VWCS but JHGCA players got their heads low, and their body language was saying “talo naman kami sigurado.”

The first quarter ended, tied at 14 and the players were like, “hindi pa naman yan yung full line-up nila” as their coach, Mr. Kim Labadan, remained calm.

The second quarter had finished having 38 points apiece, which enlightened the face of the JHG community.

“Kaya ‘to guys. Gana lang, depensa, bilisan ang ikot ng bola,”  Coach Labadan shouted.

JHGCA opened the third canto with a 9-0 run led by Jacob Hernandez and Percival Bongosa III.

Exchanged of baskets happened as Kevin Orpano joined the shoot-out after sinking an alley-oop pass from Ryan Lim, 49-44.

But TFUCS took back the lead 55-50 to end the quarter as Darius Go committed his 5th foul that sent TFUCS’ No.4 into the stripes with just a second left.

The final quarter started as the crowd got more engaged. Bongosia drove hard to the basket, drew a foul and sank two free throws, 54-55.

TFUCS was silenced as Bongosia scored again another two, followed by a Hernandez’ trey plus an Orpano’s tear drop shot, 61-55.

The lead ballooned to ten, 69-59 with back to back baskets from Jacob and a lay-up from Orpano.

The lead was cut down into seven with 5 minutes left in the ballgame 69-62, but Ryan Lim kept grabbing rebounds and Darius Go risked his 5 fouls to bang bodies inside.

Exchanged of baskets took place as Kevin Orpano had two consecutive tear drops, a Bongosia’s miracle wrap-around shot and back to back three from Hernandez.

The game ended with a Jacob’s steal plus a basket, 76-68.

The buzzer sounded and the JHGCA community went wild.

“Natapos ang bangungot, naputol and sumpa.”

“Hindi ko din alam bakit naging ganoon yung laro ng players ko. Nag-over confident siguro. Saka ang bibilis ng bata nyo.” TFUCS Coach said as he spoke to Ptr. Teodoro G. Fernando Jr., JHGCA President.

It’s a sweet victory indeed.

As Superman has Kryptonite and Achilles has his heels, JHGCA got TFUCS.

But that’s before.
Now, if Gilas has South Korea, JHGCA has TFUCS.
Got beaten by them a lot of times, but time had come, fate goes on our way.

To God be the Glory!

JHGCA BALLERS OVERWHELM CHCS, 90-50

JHGCA BALLERS OVERWHELM CHCS, 90-50
To qualify for next round

JHGCA players, coaches and administrator pose for a 3-0 gesture after the elimination round of CDAPSAL 2015-2-16.

Jesus the Heart of God Christian Academy- Kingdom Builders finished the elimination of City of Dasmarinas Association of Private Schools- Athletic League, 3-0 after ousted Carissa Homes Christian Schools, 90-50 at Emerald State, Brg. San Jose tonight which secured a slot in the quarterfinals.

Lead by their coaches, Mr. Roniemar Maragrag and Kim Aldrian Labadan, the GKB cagers started and ended the elimination round strong, after winning all those three games with a huge margin, including its last game against CHCS.

Compared with their first two schedules, this game gave them a better match.

The tip-off began at 5:00 pm, wherein JHGCA got the first ball and drew the first basket made by Jacob Hernandez.

Though being careless which resulting into having turnovers and committing unnecessary fouls, GKB was able to put up a 17-pt lead in the first half, 27-44.

CHCS opened the third canto with a trey, which cut down the lead into 14; but, the persistent Builders built a bigger lead, 39-65 to end the quarter.

JHGCA started the last quarter into a booming trey which increased their lead into 29.

In 6:16 mins left, the pink and black ballers sparked an 8-2 run but not enough to rattle the Kingdom Builders as the second unit were still able to deliver until the dying seconds of the ball game.

Because of this win, JHGCA players will enter the quarterfinal round wherein Jesus Christ King of Kings and Lord of Lords together with St. Francis Academy-La Salle Supervised are waiting.

PAGLISAN…

With the Winningest Coach in the PBA during San Mig Coffee Mixer's Launhing

Mahirap talagang umasa eh.
Yung akala mo, you will have more years being together?
Yung akala mo mada-dagdagan pa ang successful, sweet and happy memories niyo?

Philippine Cup 2011-2012 Got beaten twice in QF match against Powerade.
Commissioner’s Cup 2011-2012 Champion against TNT
Governor’s Cup 2011-2012 1st Runner up against ROS
Philippine Cup 2012-2013 Got beaten in the Semis by ROS
Commissioner’s Cup 2012-2013 Got beaten by Alaska in the Semis
Governor’s Cup 2012-2013 Champion against ROS
Philippine Cup 2013-2014 Champion vs ROS
Commissioner’s Cup 2013-2014 Champion vs TNT (3-Peat baby)
Governor’s Cup 2013-2014 Champion vs ROS (Grandslam!)
Philippine Cup 2014-2015 Defeated by Meralco in the Quarterfinals
Commissioner’s Cup 2014-2015 Failed to defend another crown; TNT defeated PF in the Semis.
Governor’s Cup 2014-2015 Dethroned. Got swept by Alaska in the semis.

5 championships, 1 runner-up, 4 semifinal rounds, 2 quarterfinals finished.

Pero…ni-hindi man lang natin naranasan mag-Bora after eliminations.
May Grand Slam pa.
Ang dami nating napagdaanan.
Mga pag-iyak at pagtawa.
Pagbagsak at pagbangon.
Napagtagumpayan ang iba’t-ibang uri ng hamon.

Para siyang lalaking nanligaw. Sinagot. Nagbuo ng mga masasayang ala-ala. Isang matinding tagumpay. Tapos naki-pag cool off. Nagpahinga. Then, biglang… BREAK!

Come on guys!

He’s really good in analyzing the game. And I believe, marami siyang natutunan kay Coach Tim. Though sana, and I do think na iba ang sistemang gagamitin niya.

Cheer up mga ka-Purefoods!

Coach Tim, thanks for being the father of this team. I saw how you treated them not just your players, but as your sons. I observed how you fight for them, how you scold at them, how you motivated them and even how you sacrifice for them. I wish you all the best as you have your new journey with Ginebra. More power and wishing you unselfishly, more rings to come!
